The Big Cheese Visits Mr B’s Journalism Class

Looking around Mr Bs classroom at Northeast Middle School, it’s clear to see that there is anticipation and excitement buzzing in the air within each of the students. Mr B starts class with a short presentation welcoming all of the families in that are here to celebrate the last day of summer school with their kids.

All of these students put so much work into their journalism class this summer! We heard about all of the editing and creation that the students did in regards to creating a podcast. We also learn about their meeting with an anchor Bisi Onile-Ere, from Fox 9 News as well as the news reports that students put together themselves. There was never a boring day in this class all summer.  It’s clear that everyone in this class had an opportunity to take part in different aspects of journalism, news, as well as radio. Giving them an idea of future career paths they may be interested in pursuing.

We ended out the hour by listening to a few students presentations about an animal that they each researched. We got presentations about red foxes, tigers, seahorses, guinea pigs, and even the Tasmanian devil. It’s clear that these students have very bright futures ahead of them. All of them bring so much creativity and passion to journalism. It’s exciting to think about all of the wonderful things that these students will bring with them into the workforce when they begin to work with in it.
