Hello MPS Voice and Jazz88 listeners, the big cheese here! As we wrap up the year, and as most of us have probably been given our Spotify wrapped. I think now is as good as a time as any to shout out my three favorite albums of the year!
This year was definitely the rise of club pop music! In particular girly pop music. Charli XCX’s album Brat that was released this summer and was iconic to say the least! I have been following Charli XCX for quite a while now, but this was her first full album to really hit the main stream audience. If you didn’t know this iconic lime green and basic fount album cover was actually done as a way to save money. Though the album cover became completely beloved in its own regard regardless of its beginnings. If you need an album to listen to while doing cardio or just dancing in your room this is the album to pick!
One of my favorite artists that I have been following since around 2020 is Remi Wolf. Remi Wolf is California native and before pursuing her music career she went to the Junior Olympics as a downhill ski racer! (A funny fact that I like to bring up when introducing people to her music). Anyhow, Remi Wolf’s album Big Ideas was also on repeat for me all summer! Remi Wolf’s personal style as well as music is absolutely enchanting. If you are interested in “funky soul pop” (her own description), I would recommend checking her out!
If you made it this far, I appreciate you taking the time to read my album recommendations from the year! All three of these albums have one song each on my top five songs played on Spotify wrapped. I hope that everyone is having a great December so far and enjoyed what they saw from their Spotify wrapped or Apple Music replay.
