Hello MPS Voices listeners!
The big cheese here. I am just popping by to chat a little bit about what’s been going on in my life recently. I am super excited to announce that I auditioned for a production at my college. I ended up receiving a leading role as the character of Cynthia! The production my school is putting on is called Paradise Zoo Park. My director actually is great friends with the person who wrote this play. (Small world hahaha).
Anyhow, this play is about the boxes and roles that we put ourselves into. It’s also about the idea of if we actually want to break free of those boxes or not. The play is really interesting and dives into these ideas by examining a bunch of animals in a zoo. Each of these animals are faced with the conundrum of if they should try to break free from their cages or not.
As I have been working with memorizing lines, acting, and much more I have been thinking a lot about what this play means to me. I think that’s so many of us put ourselves in boxes and don’t even realize that we’re in a box in the first place. I have realized that I sometimes do that to myself in particular. Instead of sometimes shooting for the stars, I place myself into a box and don’t even assume that I can look up at the stars let alone leap for them in the first place.
I think that it’s a really important sentiment to remember that you can break free of the mold. You do not have to be what anyone assumes you to be. You just need to be yourself. You need to follow your own path. As hard as it can be and as safe as it may feel to stay in our cages, sometimes we grow the most when exiting them.
I just wanted to write the small little blog post giving people encouragement. Since the beginning of the year, I have been really trying to expand my box so to speak. It’s part of the reason why I created a New Year’s bingo resolution chart that I shared a few weeks back. Anyhow, I wanted to be a ball of light and share with you that you can break out of the mold and do amazing and wonderful things. It’s super scary to take the risk, but I believe in you! You got this!
