The Spiderwort (a poem blog post by the big cheese)

I was once told that one fears the idea of being a person to cut a beautiful flower

To see such beauty and perhaps desire it so deeply that cutting it and taking you home is only the true option

But when you cut the plant, it will slowly wither away and die

Perhaps it is selfish to see such a beautiful plant and take it for yourself

Perhaps is wrong to then slowly watch death steep into its delicate petals and buds knowing that this is because of you

Perhaps it is also wrong to ever cut a beautiful flower for such a selfish desire

To that I say, perhaps a flower is not the plant to cut and love forever

A spiderwort would be much better

A spiderwort does not simply die and wither away when it is cut from its parent plant

Instead, it flourishes and blossoms after it is cut and submerged in water

Why would one reach for the rose or the daisy if the spiderwort is just as beautiful but will not die from the minor act of deep love
