Spring Break

Hello MPS Voices website viewers,

It is I… the big cheese, coming to you at the end of my spectacular spring break. I wanted to take a little bit of time to write a little blog post about all the things I did over break. I am very much so a busy bee, and I find it hard to just take a break. As such, my spring break was nothing short of busy. But it was really enjoyable! From crafting to going up to Duluth, I have a few different things that I want to share with you all that I did.

1) Created new earrings:

The first thing I did over spring break was take a day or two to craft. I made some super cute mini stud earrings. I made a cow as well as a bunny pair. They are super mini and adorable. I am so pumped to wear them when I go back to school! I attached a photo of the cow earrings below.

2) Sewed new bandannas:

As I mentioned above, my first few days of spring break included much crafting. I got the chance to go over to my grandma‘s house and finish sewing two different bandannas. I wanted to make some fun bandannas for my hair as it is growing out. I sewed a super cute shark and duck themed bandanna! I really like sewing and I was glad to spend some time enjoying my break doing just that.

3) Finished reading Frankenstein:

A good friend of mine is really into classic books. He recommended that I read Frankenstein. I have been wanting to finish the book for about a week now. It was so nice to be able to take a break from everything and enjoy reading over that break.

I really enjoyed Frankenstein. It was not what I expected it to be based on the depiction of Frankensteins monster in pop culture. The book takes place over quite a few years and the creation of the monster is barely ever talked about. I always thought that that would be a much bigger point to the book, but apparently it was not. Anyhow, I recommend reading on your next break. It’s a lot more enjoyable than cramming it in when you are super busy!

4) Interviewed an older friend about her life:

I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing my friend Ellen Stekert. I am currently taking an interviewing class at college. For my semester long large project I had to interview someone for two hours then write a paper on it. I was so fortunate to be able to interview Ellen about her life and experiences. She is quite a lot like me and it is really fascinating to hear about her life story. This interview really gave me perspective on life and hope for the future.

5) Went up to Duluth to go book shopping for a day:

A good friend of mine loves reading. He also really enjoys Duluth too. In fact, he has a few favorite bookstores up there. He took me up for a day to go book shopping in Duluth. It was an absolute blast!

Unfortunately, one of the bookstores that he loves is closing down. Fortunately for us, they were giving out all the books for free. I snagged a bunch of books about sewing and some other interesting reads as well. But it was still really heartbreaking to see an old used bookstore going out of business.

Anyhow, that is just a little snapshot into a few of the things that I did over spring break. I had an absolute blast and I was so fortunate to be able to enjoy so many different things in one week. I hope that you all are having a wonderful spring so far. I know that it’s just started, but I hope that it is going well nonetheless!

Happy spring folks,

the big cheese 🧀💐🌱
