Hello MPS Voices Viewers and Listeners,
It is I, the big cheese! I am just writing a small little blog post in celebration of the spring drive. I just wanted to take some time to talk about some of the wonderful work that I have done while at Jazz 88. I also wanted to chat about some of the wonderful new skills that I have acquired while working this internship.
While working through Jazz 88, I have been fortunate enough to be able to create my own show and blog. These are the two biggest accomplishments that I have been able to achieve and continue to create since starting here.
You all are definitely aware of my blog considering that you are reading a blog post right now. This blog has really given me the chance to have a voice. I have learned how to properly tell a story and also how to teach others about interesting facts on a new topic they may not know about.
As I mentioned above as well, I created my own show Cheesy Music Taste. Creating my show has also helped to give me a voice just like my blog has. I have so many different interests in niche topics. Because of starting a radio show I have been able to share a lot of fun different facts about niche topics as well as share some of my favorite music with all of you. It has been an absolute treat to share my life with you in this way!
When it comes to skills while working at Jazz 88, I have gained so much new experience and knowledge. I have really done a vast array of things here and as such I have gained a vast amount of new skills. A few of the most important skills I learned were how to use Adobe Audition, how to format a blog post to tell a story, and how to get across interesting facts in a digestible way.
Before starting this job, I had no clue how to edit. I picked up Adobe Audition very quickly. I learned a ton about how to properly format audio files. I also learned how to embed different music in audio clips. One of my favorite things I learned was how to edit and produce a radio show with this software! Adobe Audition is a super useful software that I am proud to say that I am now able to use!
I also learned how to format a blog post to tell a story. It’s one thing to just write a blog post, but it’s another thing to learn how to accurately tell a story. Just recently, I had the chance to an interview a local artist. I then got to learn how to tell his music story in a digestible blog post format. I am super interested in journalism and learning how to use a blog post for telling stories is a super useful skill that I have learned while working here.
The last skill that I mentioned above was that I learned how to tell interesting facts in a digestible way. As my show has gone on, I have learned that I can add different talk breaks where I discuss a legend or some fun facts. I have really taken the time to learn how to keep the listener engaged. I learned how long a break should be and when telling facts and also how to properly breathe without sounding too out of breath when getting excited. (which happens a lot because I love sharing interesting stuff with all of you!)
Anyhow, this was just a little post that I put together for the spring drive as I mentioned above just to talk about the wonderful opportunities that Jazz 88 has given me. I am so thankful to be able to work here! Thank you to all you listeners out there as well as my staff at Jazz 88, you all truly make this lovely job possible!
